Where you can actually pick up medical cannabis in Texas
"Texas has three dispensaries" is the line everyone repeats, and it stopped being useful
the moment HB 46 let licensees open satellite locations. Three companies, yes. But
twenty-seven counters across the state, and twelve more licensees waiting in the wings. Here
is the whole map, with addresses, checked this week.
Nine counters hold stock, eighteen do not. That single fact decides whether
you can walk in. goodblend’s four storefronts, Fluent’s Schulenburg shop, and Texas Original’s
four HB 46 satellites keep medicine onsite and will sell to a registered patient during posted
hours. The other eighteen run on orders placed online first, verified against the state
registry and collected in a window. Ordering ahead is still what guarantees the specific
product is there when you arrive.

How they actually differ
Texas Original is the one most patients end up on by default, and the
reason is coverage: sixteen collection points, the only pickup counters in Lubbock and
Tyler, and announced expansions into Corpus Christi, El Paso, and Midland that would close
three of the state's worst gaps. Its inhalation lineup is the deepest in the program. It is
also the operator that used HB 46 hardest: four of its counters — South Austin, Houston
Heights, San Antonio, Plano — are now DPS-approved satellites that store medicine overnight,
which is what turns them into same-day, walk-in-capable sites rather than order-ahead
windows. The trade-off is a rigid discount policy: one discount per order, no exceptions,
and the rewards redemption counts as your one.
goodblend runs four full retail storefronts, where a patient can arrive
during business hours and be handed an order without an appointment dance — the same
practical access Texas Original's satellites now offer, reached by a different licensing
route. It also stacks your best two discounts on the same order and is the only operator
with an income-based hardship program, which for a patient on SSDI, SSI, SNAP, or WIC is
worth more than any menu difference. Its weakness is geographic: outside Austin, San
Antonio, and DFW, it leans on clinic partners with narrow hours.
Fluent holds the oldest of the three licenses and does the least with it.
One location in Schulenburg, a town of about 3,000 people between Houston and San Antonio,
with inventory that is frequently thin and a delivery footprint we would not plan a month
around. Worth checking if the other two are out of what you need. Not worth building a
routine on.
Every pickup location, by region
Addresses below were checked against each operator's own location page on 2026-10-12 —
never an aggregator, because the re-check schedule is the
only thing standing between this list and a patient driving to a counter that moved.
Partner sites are clinics hosting a handoff, so they keep the clinic's hours rather than
retail hours. Call before you drive.

Announced, not yet open
Texas Original has named three expansion cities, and all three are places with no pickup
counter today: Corpus Christi, El Paso, Midland. Treat announced as announced.
Nothing in this program has ever opened early.
Where there is no counter at all
Pickup coverage tracks the I-35 corridor and the big metros almost perfectly, which leaves
a long list of Texas cities on delivery alone: El Paso, Midland and Odessa, Amarillo, the
entire Rio Grande Valley, Laredo, Corpus Christi, Beaumont, and Killeen. That is several
million people, and it includes both of the regions where delivery is genuinely
complicated by federal checkpoints.
The fix is already licensed and not yet built. Verano holds the El Paso region, RISE holds
the Permian Basin, Trulieve holds the Panhandle and South Plains, and TexaRx holds the
Valley and Coastal Bend. Whether those become counters in 2027 or quietly lapse is the
most consequential open question in the program.
Roughly two thirds of Texas by land area sits outside comfortable range of anything on the
table above. Three regional guides cover what access actually looks like in those places,
including the drives, the delivery cycles, and in South and West Texas the interior Border
Patrol checkpoints that a state prescription does not travel through.
Every counter on this page runs on orders placed online first, so the next step is a menu rather than a drive. All three licensed operators verify you against the same state registry; the differences that matter are delivery terms and what each one stocks.
Three licensed dispensing organizations are dispensing today: Texas Original, goodblend, and Fluent. Between them they run 27 places you can pick up an order, because HB 46 let licensees open satellite and partner locations rather than one facility each. Twelve more organizations hold conditional licenses and none of them is open yet. So the honest count depends entirely on what you are asking: three companies, twenty-seven counters, and fifteen licenses on paper.
Can I walk in without an appointment or an order?
At nine of the twenty-seven counters, yes. What decides it is whether medicine is held on the premises overnight. goodblend’s four storefronts do that, Fluent’s Schulenburg shop does, and HB 46 let Texas Original convert four sites into DPS-approved satellites that keep inventory onsite: South Austin (Manchaca), Houston Heights, San Antonio on Austin Highway, and Plano on West 15th. At those you can arrive during posted hours and buy in person with nothing ordered ahead. Everywhere else is a no: Texas Original’s remaining own counters have stock trucked in against orders already placed, and partner sites are physician offices hosting a scheduled handoff with nothing stored there at all. Ordering online first is still the only way to guarantee a specific product is waiting, so treat walk-in as a convenience that rides on the day’s stock.
Do I have to collect the order myself?
Not if you plan ahead. Every one of these counters verifies against the same state registry, and that registry has room for a caregiver: your prescribing physician can enter one on your CURT record, and the dispensary will then release your order to that person instead of you. It matters most at partner sites, where the pickup window is narrow and set by a clinic’s schedule rather than retail hours, so a spouse who can swing by at 2pm is worth more than a flexible policy. Set it up at the evaluation, ask each operator what ID they want to see from your caregiver, and be clear about the boundary: the designation covers collecting your medicine and bringing it to you, not carrying it around independently.
What is the difference between a storefront, a pickup point, and a partner site?
A storefront is the operator’s own retail location with staff, set hours, and product on hand for a patient who arrives without an order. A satellite is the same thing under HB 46’s newer authority: a DPS-approved site licensed to store medicine overnight, which is what makes same-day and walk-in purchase possible at Texas Original’s four converted counters. A plain pickup point is the operator’s own site too, staffed, but holds nothing overnight, so the stock that arrives is the stock ordered against a window. A partner site is a third party, usually a clinic, hosting the handoff on the operator’s behalf, which means narrower windows and no inventory held on site. All three verify you against the state registry identically. The difference is speed and flexibility, not legitimacy.
Which operator should I order from?
Texas Original has the widest pickup network and the deepest inhalation lineup, goodblend has four full storefronts and the better discount stacking, Texas Original matches that walk-in access at four HB 46 satellites, and Fluent is a single Schulenburg location with thin inventory that we would not build a routine around. Most patients within reach of two operators should keep accounts with both and compare before each order, because the menus diverge more than the marketing suggests.
Is there anywhere in Texas that cannot get product at all?
No. Every licensed operator except Fluent delivers to every Texas address, which is the entire reason the program functions in a state this size. What varies is whether you also have a pickup option and how long a delivery cycle takes. El Paso, the Permian Basin, Amarillo, the Rio Grande Valley, Laredo, Corpus Christi, and Beaumont have no pickup counter at all today and run on delivery alone.
How current is this list?
Every address here was checked against the operators’ own location pages on 2026-10-12. Locations open and close on short notice as the HB 46 rollout continues, so confirm on the operator’s site before you drive anywhere. If you find something out of date here, we would rather hear about it than keep serving it.

Don't let your prescription lapse
Texas issues no card, so nothing expires in your wallet and no notice arrives in the mail.
Access ends when your refills run out or your physician's follow-up date arrives, and most
patients find out from a dispensary order that won't go through. Leave your email and we'll
remind you before that happens, plus send the current renewal prices.
